Why Kermi’s Kindy Long Day Care

Our learning, education and care program aims to stimulate and challenge your child’s learning and development. We combine play-based learning within our planning and aim to incorporate child’s interests, strengths, relationships, and prior knowledge to our program.

Our programming is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – Belonging, Being and Becoming.

Classroom Facilities

The Centre and Classroom is designed with one large room, which is separated into a carpet area and a practical area. The carpet area, which is set up into different areas for the children, consisting of a home corner, blocks area, quiet reading area and many other areas for your children to explore.

The practical area is consisted of tables, which are set up with stimulating activities and experiences for your child to get involved in, these range from puzzles to counting and matching activities. In this area we also have two computers, which area are implemented and used with the Preschool program for the children in the Koala group.

The outdoor area is a reasonably large spaces, consisting of a sandpit and cubby house. The rest of the free play grass area is filled with climbing frames and other activities for the children to enjoy. Throughout the day educators set up different activities and objects outside for the children to play with, these include bikes, balls and blocks.

Active Learning

Our Activities and experiences are planned and based around your child’s developmental areas to help cater and suit their needs. All activities and experiences planned focus on stimulating your children and assisting with their overall development.

The educators at Kermi’s base their activities and experiences around the topics and areas of interest that the children may be showing for that week. Topics are chosen and taught to the children based on their interests and activities, experiences and craft are planned based around these topics that the children are learning about.

Spontaneous activities and experiences are also encouraged throughout the day by children suggesting or asking for different activities or equipment throughout the day to use.

All children at Kermi’s Kindy are encouraged to form friendships with each other. When children form friendships with one another this encourages your child’s social and emotional development.

Group Experiences and Group times are planned throughout the day for the children to sit down together, play and engage to encourage friendship making and communication amongst each other. These times are organised and planned by the educators to foster and encourage friendship making and to also teach the children to importance of team work and being kind to one another.

These developmental areas are used to help educators to plan and program for the children in their care and are used throughout all activities and experiences during the day at Kermi’s. These areas are linked closely with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS). With our rich knowledge of child development, we are always there to understand and support the learning and growth of your child in our care.

Your Children

Kermi’s Kindy Long Day Care aims to provide a sense of belonging for the children by making them feel safe, secure and supported throughout the day. Educators understand that each child is unique and learns differently, so through their abilities and strengths they will help children to develop, grow and learn by planning and programming around the five developmental areas to help your child have an enriched learning experience.

Your child’s safety is our main priority! We will always endeavour to make Kermi’s Kindy a safe and inviting place for all children at all times.

Your children’s happiness is very important to us and we will try our best to make sure that your child has a sense of belonging at Kermi’s, by making them feel safe, secure and supported throughout the day.

Activities and Experiences are planned for the children based around the five developmental areas. Topics of interest are chosen and taught to the children based on their interests. The 2-3 year olds and 3-4 year olds groups are combined together as one and focus on teaching the children one focus topic every month, which is based from the children’s interests.

The Preschool group focuses on many different topics throughout the year and is flexible each week depending on the children’s interests and directions in which they would like to go. With these topic of interests, there is a implemented school readiness program as well, where the children complete more structured activities, focused around preparing your child for Kindergarten.
